Skin Fillers
Skin fillers are commonly used to restore skin fullness, enhance skin volume or fill in wrinkles or folds of the face. There are several skin fillers used to add or restore volume to the face. Juvederm and Restylane are composed of Hyaluronic Acid, a natural substance that exists in the human body and is FDA approved. Other skin fillers include Radiesse or Sculptra.
Skin fillers typically last up to one year. At that time patients can be reinjected. Fat grafting can also be used as a filler and lasts longer. This involves using a patient’s own fat tissue to fill in desired areas.
The results achieved with fillers can be provider dependent. It does not cost more to have the injections done by a plastic surgeon. To find out which filler would best achieve your desired results in the Waukesha, Wisconsin area, contact Dr. Alex Colque.
Reasons for Considering Skin Fillers:
- Wrinkles or folds on the face.
- Lines from the nose to the corners of your mouth (Nasolabial Folds).
- Small or thin lips.
- Lines around the mouth.
- Wrinkles from the corner of your mouth to your chin.
Skin Fillers General Procedure:
The area to be treated can be blocked by local anesthesia or topical cream anesthesia or ice. Then the dermal filler is injected into the wrinkle or fold to be treated to restore the volume of the face or fill in the wrinkle. If Juvederm is injected into the lips, it can be injected into the upper lip, lower lip or both depending on your desires.
Recovery Process:
Fillers are performed in the office as an outpatient procedure.
