Brow Lift
As we age, the skin of our eyebrows and forehead become more loose and can lead to an older, tired or angry appearance. Heavy brow sagging can also accentuate eyelid hooding and crow's feet wrinkles that further add to an unpleasing older appearance. A brow lift is a corrective procedure that treats sagging eyebrows (also known as brow ptosis). This procedure can restore the eyebrow back to a more youthful position. A brow lift can correct sagging skin hanging over the eyes and help treat eyelid hooding and also help decrease the appearance of crow's feet wrinkles. There are many different types of brow lift procedures including endoscopic brow lift, direct brow lift, coronal brow lift and lateral brow lift. The type of brow lift performed depends on each individual patient's unique anatomy and will be discussed with you during your initial consultation with Dr. Colque. In addition, some brow lift procedures also give a forehead lift to treat forehead wrinkles. Some insurance plans cover brow lift to treat brow ptosis that is obstructing a patient's vision. Dr. Colque works with most health insurance plans and will know before the procedure is performed if it is covered by insurance.
Brow lift procedures are commonly performed in combination with eye lift surgery (blepharoplasty) or a facelft (rhytidectomy). To see which procedure will give you the best and longest lasting result to achieve your goals, contact Dr. Colque today.
Reasons for Considering Brow Lift Surgery:
-
Sagging of the eyebrow skin.
-
A tired or angry appearance of the eyes.
-
Hooding of the eyes or crow's feet wrhinkles.
General Procedure
The Brow Lift procedure can be performed several ways. They include incisions hidden in the hear line, on the side of the head or top of the head. An endoscopic brow lift can also be performed as a minimally invasive procedure with smaller incision on the head in the hair area. After the incisions are made, the brow tissue is moved and secured to a more natural, youthful position. The procedure generally takes about 1 hour when performed alone. Dr. Colque will take the time to plan the incision placement and type of brow lift procedure that will give you the best possible result. Brow lift can also be combined with newer techniques including Botox injections to firm fine lines and wrinkles.
Recovery Process
Brow Lifts are usually well tolerated and when performed alone or with an eye lift (blepharoplasty) you can go home the same day. Dressings are applied to help the healing process. After the dressings are removed, Dr. Colque will review the instructions with you that will help you achieve the best and longest lasting result. Patients sometimes report minor pain associated with this procedure and this can usually be treated with oral medication. While everyone recovers differently, most patients can return to work and most activites in just a few days.
